Rosedale Global High School is proud to recognize Khant Zaw Tun as the 2024 | 2025 recipient of the Chris Royce Memorial Scholarship. This honour celebrates students who demonstrate academic strength, meaningful leadership, and a commitment to community service, qualities Khant brings to every aspect of his learning and community involvement.

For Khant, the scholarship is a meaningful recognition of his hard work and a reminder of the power of combining leadership with academic effort. He sees this recognition as encouragement to set higher goals, support others, and pursue his aspirations with greater purpose. He shared:

“This award reminds me that leadership and service are vital. When they are accompanied with academic effort, they can create real change.”

One example of Khant’s leadership is the after-school study group he created for classmates struggling in math and science. Working with teachers and recruiting student volunteers, he built a space where peers could learn together and feel supported. The program not only helped improve academic performance, but also encouraged collaboration and strengthened the school community.

Khant’s commitment to service also reaches into the broader community. He led English-speaking sessions for visually impaired undergraduate students, helping to create an inclusive environment where every participant felt confident to speak, share ideas, and grow.

“Even small efforts can make a big difference. This experience reminded me how important empathy and communication are, especially in education.”

How the Rosedale OSSD Shaped His Academic and Personal Growth

The Rosedale OSSD has played a central role in shaping Khant’s academic journey and preparing him for the future. Through courses like SBI4U – Biology and SCH4U – Chemistry, he built a strong foundation in science and discovered his passion for health and medicine. Just as important, it helped him develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in postsecondary education and beyond.

“The Rosedale OSSD helped me define my path. It connected my academic interests with real-world goals like improving healthcare and supporting communities.”

He credits the program’s focus on independent learning, research, and time management for helping him grow as a student and a leader. With its global perspective and flexible structure, the Rosedale OSSD gave him the confidence to take initiative, think critically, and work toward a future that blends academic achievement with social impact.

Khant’s nominator praised his dedication to lifelong learning and service.

“He not only achieves excellence in the classroom, but also uplifts others through his leadership and empathy. This scholarship recognizes both his accomplishments and his character.”

With the support of the Chris Royce Memorial Scholarship, Khant is ready to take the next step in his academic journey and continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

We celebrate Khant’s achievements and look forward to seeing how he continues to lead and inspire.
